Here is an interesting piece about ethno-racial identification from the UK, based on a survey commissioned by a government agency official. [KR]
“Britain’s Hindus do not want to be described as “Asians”, lumped together alongside others with roots in Britain’s former South Asian colonies, according to a survey to be published in parliament. Instead, 80 percent would prefer to be called British Indian or British Hindus, rather than be identified under the British Asian umbrella with others with ties to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.”

Asians must not consider it insulting to be grouped with other Asians. The news story is misleading. You can both be a British Indian and a British Asian. They are not mutually exclusive. Of course, many people would identify with the smaller tribal type group more than the larger racial group, but it would not negate their affiliation to their larger racial group. The false dichotomy makes it appear as if the BBC wants to play Asians against each other and divide us. Asians seriously need to interbreed until we’re a homogenized group.

Utter crap, Nikki Surti, those of us with any knowledge of our historical past know that we have more that divides us (culturally) than do most indigenous British. You’re falling for the idiotic canard that skin tone is more relevant than culture.
